THE NEW SEAT LEON ECOMOTIVE AND TGIPERFORMANCE WITH OUTSTANDING EFFICIENCY

Frankfurt / Martorell, 10/09/2013 – SEAT is expanding its highly successful Leon family by two models with impressive efficiency, low emissions and exceptionally modest running costs. The new Leon 1.6 TDI Ecomotive consumes just 3.2 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres – a figure that applies to all three body styles, Leon, Leon SC and the new Leon ST. The second newcomer, the Leon 1.4 TGI, is engineered to run on compressed natural gas (CNG), and has a very impressive CO2 figure of 94 grams/km to match its exceptionally low fuel costs. Both models share the sporty performance supplied by 81 kW / 110 PS, as well as the agile and precise handling of every Leon.

The new SEAT Leon Ecomotive is one of the most fuel-efficient cars available. With its average fuel consumption of just 3.2 litres per 100 kilometres and a correspondingly modest CO2 figure of just 85 grams/km, the Leon Ecomotive is exceptionally inexpensive and low in emissions. Thanks to its brand new 1.6 TDI engine with 81 kW / 110 PS and a torque of 250 Newton metres, the Leon Ecomotive also offers compelling performance, delivering a top speed of 197 km/h. This is further enhanced by a theoretical range of no less than 1,500 kilometres, cutting refuelling stops to an absolute minimum.

Major contributors to the low consumption figures are the start/stop system, the energy regeneration system, the specially adapted six-speed transmission and the tires with exceptionally low rolling resistance. Added to this are the optimised aerodynamics of the slightly lower bodyshell, featuring some closed-off cooling apertures at the front, additional underbody panels and a roof spoiler with side spoilers at the rear windscreen. The Leon Ecomotive is offered in all three body styles, each with the Reference or Style equipment lines.

The unique combination of highly emotional design, precise dynamics and exceptionally low running costs also applies to the second newcomer to the SEAT family – the Leon TGI. Its newly developed 1.4-litre direct injection, turbocharged engine can run on either petrol or compressed natural gas (CNG).

The incredibly low CNG consumption and the lower energy price combination, makes the Leon TGI one of the most economical cars around.

The engine in the Leon TGI delivers 81 kW / 110 PS, with the maximum torque of 200 Nm available from as low down as 1,500 rpm. In spite of its fuel efficiency, this bestows the Leon TGI with outstanding performance – 0 to 100 km/h in 10.9 seconds and a top speed of 194 km/h. The bivalent – engineered for CNG and petrol – 1.4 TSI offers exceptional range. In purely CNG mode, it is around 400 kilometres. The average fuel consumption is 3.5 kg of CNG per 100 kilometres, which equates to 94 grams of CO2 per kilometre. In petrol mode, it provides an additional range of more than 900 kilometres. If the two CNG tanks with a combined capacity of 15 kg located beneath the luggage compartment and the 50-litre petrol tank are completely full, the Leon TGI achieves a theoretical range of 1,300 kilometres.

The Leon TGI is offered in the five-door and in the estate version ST, each one with the Reference or Style equipment lines.
