Η Toyota και η Lexus ανακαλούν 235.000 υβριδικά οχήματα για ξεχωριστά προβλήματα

Η Toyota ανακοίνωσε δύο ξεχωριστές αλλά οικειοθελείς ανακλήσεις για τις Η.Π.Α. Η πρώτη από αυτές τις ανακλήσεις αφορά 133.000 υβριδικά crossovers με έτος κατασκευής από το 2006 έως και το 2010 και περιλαμβάνει τα μοντέλα: Toyota Highlander Hybrid και Lexus RX400h.

Η δεύτερη, αφορά 102.000 Lexus IS350 sedans, IS350C cabrio και GS350 sedans με έτος κατασκευής από το 2006 έως και το 2011.

Με τα crossover, το πρόβλημα εντοπίζεται στα παράλληλα κυκλώματα των transistors που μπορεί να προκαλέσουν ζημιά λόγω θερμότητας στην μονάδα του inverter, κάνοντας το ταμπλό να ανάβει σαν χριστουγεννιάτικο δέντρο και το όχημα να μπαίνει σε safe mode. Αυτό το «θέμα» έχει προκαλέσει παρόμοιες ανακλήσεις και στην Ιαπωνία και την Ευρώπη. Με τα sedan και τα cabrio από την άλλη, το πρόβλημα είναι μερικές χαλαρές βίδες στο controller του μεταβλητού χρονισμού των βαλβίδων. Οχήματα με αυτό το πρόβλημα, κάνουν έναν περίεργο ήχο κατά την εκκίνηση του κινητήρα και ενδέχεται να διακοπεί η λειτουργία της μηχανής κατά την οδήγηση.

Σε αυτή το σημείο δεν είναι γνωστό αν τα προβλήματα αυτά έχουν προκαλέσει ατυχήματα ενώ η Toyota λέει πως σχεδιάζει να ενημερώσει τους ιδιοκτήτες για την ανάκληση με e-mail.

Toyota Announces Voluntary Recalls

TORRANCE, Calif., Sept. 3, 2013 – Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. today announced that it will conduct two voluntary safety recalls. One involves approximately 133,000 MY 2006-2010 Highlander Hybrid and MY 2006-2008 Lexus RX 400h vehicles. The other involves approximately 102,000 MY 2006-2011 Lexus IS 350, IS 350C, and GS 350 vehicles.

In the involved Toyota Highlander Hybrid and Lexus RX 400h vehicles, transistors within the hybrid system’s inverter assembly can experience heat damage due to variations in characteristics of the transistors’ parallel circuits. Should this occur, various warning lights on the instrument panel will illuminate, and in most cases the vehicle will enter “limp home mode.” In limited instances, the hybrid system will shut down and resulting in the vehicle stopping while the vehicle is being driven.

In the involved Lexus IS 350, IS 350C and GS 350 vehicles, bolts used to secure the variable valve timing control device can become loose, causing the vehicle to stop while being driven. Early warning for this condition can be an abnormal noise just after start-up.

Owners of vehicles subject to these recalls will receive a notification by first class mail.
