Ford to debut New Mondeo and New Fiesta ST at Auto Shanghai 2013

SHANGHAI, April 8, 2013– Ford Motor Company will present its most comprehensive auto show display line-up ever at the upcoming Auto Shanghai 2013, with 23 vehicles, including the all-new Ford Mondeo, all-new Ford Fiesta ST and a Ford CTCC race car.

Ford also will hold a global debut of an all-new concept model at Asia’s largest auto show.

“We are excited to have visitors at Auto Shanghai 2013 come to the Ford display and see for themselves the great products and technologies we are bringing to our customers in China.” said Dave Schoch, president of Ford Asia Pacific. “With the stunning all-new Mondeo and the new Fiesta ST, we’re fulfilling our promise to bring more exciting vehicles to our customers as we remain on track to introduce 15 new models in China by 2015.”

The launch of the exhilarating all-new Ford Fiesta ST will expand Ford’s offering in the performance car segment and further drive enthusiasm among Chinese performance car lovers for the ST lineup powered by Ford’s renowned Sport Technology.

The all-new Ford Mondeo, showing a striking silhouette based on Ford’s new global design language, will provide midsize car segment customers with a dynamic exterior design, class leading technologies and outstanding fuel economy.

The Ford display, an area of more than 2,000 square meters, will be located at Hall W2. In addition to exciting vehicles, the Ford stand will have interactive zones to give visitors opportunities to experience an array of advanced smart and safety technologies.

An Interactive Ford Stand Showcasing Great Technologies

The Ford display at Auto Shanghai 2013 has been transformed with more smart, green and safe technology displays than ever and interactive features sure to deliver an engaging, lively and fun experience for visitors and car enthusiasts.

Ford will demonstrate its leading role as a technology leader in the auto industry by showcasing its voice-activated SYNC with MyFord Touch Mandarin system. The award winning in-car vehicle connectivity technology allows the driver to make calls, read text messages and play music through voice commands or a colour touchscreen.

Ford’s global leadership in vehicle safety also will be highlighted at Auto Shanghai 2013 with another major safety innovation – the industry’s first inflatable rear safety belt. Ford’s unique inflatable rear belt spread impact forces across more than five times the area of conventional seat belts, reducing pressure on the chest while helping to control head and neck motion. The technology has already been employed on the Explorer and will be made available on the new Mondeo.

With its continuous efforts to bring more fuel efficient engine options to Chinese customers, Ford will display its EcoBoost engine family at the show, including the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine, the smallest although powerful addition to the EcoBoost family, highlighting the company’s role in providing sustainable power solutions.

Ford’s Green Calculator can calculate daily savings that can be attained by making use of Ford’s green technologiesA Boostical display will allow visitors to generate their own music videos to communicate the power and efficiency of EcoBoost engines, and smart driving will be emphasized with SYNC Activations, which illustrate the use of Ford’s award-winning SYNC technology through both a driving and a music gameA magician will reveal the benefits of technologies including SYNC with MyFord Touch in Mandarin and, with the Crowd Control Game, visitors will be able to control an EcoSport through a motion-sensing camera, unlocking information about the new urban SUV at every turnAn all-new Mondeo trim display will showcase the sophisticated design and materials used in the interior of the benchmark-setting vehicleDemonstrating the advanced safety features of Ford vehicles, the Safety Touch Table will let visitors see a demonstration of innovations such as inflatable seatbelts. And younger fans of Ford will be given the chance to paint their own Ford badges while learning about the features that make Ford vehicles safe for the whole family

Visitors can also register online at the display to receive a Blue Oval Card, which they can then use to access additional information throughout their visit to the Ford display.

Auto Shanghai 2013 takes place from April 21-29, 2013 at the Shanghai International Exhibition Center.

Ford will hold its press conference in the W2 hall, starting at 09:00am on Saturday, April 20, 2013.
