Greek Prime Minister to Meet Turkish President Amid Maritime Dispute

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is set to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara on May 13th.

The meeting marks an important attempt in easing testy relations between long-time adversaries Greece and Turkey.

The high-level talks, confirmed following an emergency European Council session, amid ongoing tensions over maritime rights.

Greece’s proposed marine parks in the Aegean and Ionian Seas have sparked controversy with Turkey, which has voiced strong opposition. Still, Mr. Mitsotakis has reaffirmed Greece’s commitment to international maritime law and environmental protection, stating the parks will proceed as planned.
