energy market. The Company was established in 1997 by the local utility company Hammerfest Energi. Today the Company has offices in Hammerfest, Norway and Glasgow, Scotland. We aim to build UK as a reference market, and has established a Joint Venture with a Scottish utility company to develop several tidal power projects.

The technology developed by ANDRITZ HYDRO Hammerfest has received international attention, and it is regarded as one of the leading technologies in its field. The technology is based on experiences from technologies and solutions used in hydro-power, wind energy and offshore oil & gas industries, with focus on sustainable solutions, - and has been tested for extended periods to verify its reliability and efficiency. ANDRITZ HYDRO Hammerfest is a capable partner for developing and delivering state-of-the-art solutions for reliable and cost effective energy production.

The business idea is to capture the kinetic energy stream of tidal currents, and convert this into electricity. Our core business is technology development and supply of turn-key tidal power arrays. The goal is to make tidal power competitive with other marine renewable power sources.
Component manufacturing, assembly, testing and installation are all outsourced to strategic partners. Hammerfest Strom has the project management through the whole value chain and is therefore able to take all learning back to the R&D department. Maintenance planning and management are executed in cooperation with strategic partners. ANDRITZ HYDRO Hammerfest owns all IPR-rights to the technology.
