Juncker in Athens; meetings with President, PM on Tuesday

Prime Minister of Luxembourg and former Eurogroup president Jean Claude Juncker on Monday arrived in Athens for a two-day working visit, his second in seven months, at the invitation of Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, who welcomed him at the airport.

The two leaders are scheduled to meet on Tuesday
at 10:00 a.m. at Maximos Mansion, government headquarters.

Juncker was formally received at Athens' “Eleftherios Venizelos” International Airport by a military honour guard and, after the national anthems were played, he warmly greeted cabinet members attending the welcoming ceremony.

Later on Monday evening, he will address an audience at Athens' “Megaron” Concert Hall on “Euro: Assessment and prospects”. The event is organised by the Embassy of Luxembourg in Athens, the “Megaron” Athens Concert Hall and the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP).

On Tuesday, after meeting with Prime Minister Samaras, he will be received by Hellenic Republic President Karolos Papoulias and Parliament President Evangelos Meimarakis.
