Γιατί ακτιβιστές διαμαρτυρήθηκαν κατά τη διάρκεια της Εβδομάδας Μόδας στο Λονδίνο;

Μπορεί η εβδομάδα μόδας του Λονδίνου να ολοκληρώνεται σήμερα, φαίνεται όμως πως μια ομάδα ακτιβιστών θέλησε να εκμεταλλευτεί τη δημοσιότητα που συγκεντρώνει το δημοφιλές event μόδας, για να διαμαρτυρηθεί για τα περιβαλλοντικά ζητήματα που σχετίζονται με τη βιομηχανία της μόδας.

Back in July, @xr.boycottfashion wrote to the @BritishFashionCouncil and asked them to cancel #LondonFashionWeek in light of the climate and ecological emergency.⁣

⁣ This weekend, #LFW went ahead as usual. This is no time for business as usual. Λίγο πριν ξεκινήσει η πρώτη επίδειξη της διοργάνωσης, οι ακτιβιστές εμφανίστηκαν απροειδοποίητα έξω από το χώρο φορώντας στολές που είχαν πάνω τους κόκκινη μπογιά και κρατώντας πανό με συνθήματα για τις καταστροφικές πρακτικές της βιομηχανίας της μόδας που επηρεάζουν τις περιβαλλοντικές αλλαγές.

Οι ακτιβιστές είχαν στείλει μάλιστα επιστολή στο Βρετανικό Συμβούλιο Μόδας τον περασμένο Ιούλιο, προτρέποντας τους να ακυρώσουν την εβδομάδα μόδας, χωρίς ωστόσο να γίνει δεκτό το αίτημα τους.

Φαίνεται πως οι διαμαρτυρίες στους χώρους που διοργανώνονται οι εβδομάδες μόδας είναι κάτι το σύνηθες, αφού τον Φεβρουάριο του 2018 μια ακτιβίστρια για τα δικαιώματα και την προστασία των ζώων, εισχώρησε στην επίδειξη της σχεδιάστριας Μαίρης Κατράντζου στο Λονδίνο κρατώντας ένα πανό στα χέρια της, ενώ τον Φθινόπωρο του 2013 μια ομάδα διαδηλωτριών  εμφανίστηκαν topless και διέκοψαν την επίδειξη της Nina Ricci στην εβδομάδα μόδας στο Παρίσι.
