Media to hold work stoppage on Wednesday morning

POESY said the stoppage was part of the 48-hour strike called by the two largest unions of Greek workers, ADEDY (public sector) and GSEE (private sector), to protest layoffs. An exception will be made for journalists covering the strikes and related action.

“We say no to the shutting down of ERT” POESY said, referring to the former state broadcaster, “we say no to the thousands of layoffs in our sector, we say no to the planned layoffs of municipal radio stations, we say no to the gagging of municipal radio.” They added that their action was a fight “against unemployment and for the signing of collective labour agreements, and for a solution guaranteeing the viability of insurance and pension funds, which are falling apart.”
