Samaras asks ministers not to loosen up during summer

“By June 2014, the government needs to do its best to achieve the targets set,” the premier stressed, calling on those ministers with obligations pertaining to the rescue loan contract terms to meet them even within August, regardless of whether they have time until September.

Further, Samaras said that the Greek Presidency of the European

Union in the first half of 2014 should make steps for what he called more Europe. With regard to illegal immigration, he spoke of the practical solidarity shown by Greece’s European partners.

The premier also referred to an overall EU sea policy. “Europe was born in the Mediterranean and new impetus can be given to this sea. In 2014, there can be a true change in Europe’s direction, together with contribution by Italy with which we are on a joint action mode.”

The cabinet also approved the following appointments: Efterpi Koutzamani as Supreme Court prosecutor, Michael Theoharides as Supreme Court president and G. Sideris as Supreme Court vice president. Dimitris Rizos was appointed chairman of the Council of State and Nicholas Rozos vice chairman of the CoS. Evangelos Ntais was appointed president of the Court of Auditors.
