DB Schenker now enables B2C delivery

With DB SCHENKERsystem home companies can now deliver groupage to private receivers in Europe directly, be it home appliances, technical products or interior design products.

The new service expands DB Schenker’s groupage system freight network to include standardised B2C shipping, thereby increasing its

delivery range from 22m companies to 195m private households in Europe. This enlargement is a response to the increasing demand for B2C delivery and the ongoing megatrend of e-commerce and cross-border B2C trade in Europe, as communicated by the logistics giant.

Already one of the world’s leading global logistics providers, DB Schenker expects the B2C delivery segment to continue to grow at an above-average rate, and has now entered the B2C market as a response to customer needs.

Cyrille Bonjean, executive vice-president as head of land transport Europe, and responsible for the new business segment, sees it as a huge gain for the customers.

“Now, even more companies can go global from day one and reach markets all over Europe with our B2C curbside delivery. It will open new, exciting business perspectives for many of our customers and as of today, none of our competitors can offer a pan-European coverage for delivery to private households as we have now introduced.

“With the SCHENKERsystem home service, it becomes easier than ever to ship pallets to private households,” he added.

Booking, tracking and billing of the curbside deliveries all take place online. The private receivers can select the preferred date and get advanced delivery notice via text message or email once their shipment is on the way. All this, says Cyrille Bonjean, with the fastest lead times in Europe for a service of this kind.
