Athens grips with weekend festival events

The Greek capital is abuzz with the “This is Athens City Festival,” offering a rash of events set to run through Sunday.

The festival, which

spans from May 17 to June 2, features over 300 events organized by the city’s Development and Tourism Promotion Company. It promises an eclectic mix of music, from electronic beats to Brazilian rhythms, alongside piano concerts and more.

Event Highlights:

Kaniggos Street Party (May 17, Kaniggos Square): An open-air party stage with dance electronic music hosted by George Apergis and Reverb Sessions. Free admission.

Piano City Athens (May 17-18, St. George Lycabettus & National Garden): Over a hundred piano concerts featuring a blend of established and emerging artists. Free admission.

Spinning Club at Kypseli Municipal Market: A unique spinning experience with dynamic lighting and music, guided by expert instructors.

Capoeira & Samba Public Sessions (May 18, Ermou and Piraeus Park): A family-friendly workshop exploring the Brazilian arts of Capoeira and Samba. Free admission.

Flare the Square: A Skateboarding Contest (May 18, Kotzia Square): A high-level skateboarding tournament accompanied by concerts, DJ sets, and street food. Free admission.
